Domaine des Pierres Seches
St Joseph Rouge Aubert 2017

Sorry, this item is no longer available

This is such a lovely, powerful, minerally, brilliant wine. From over 80 year old vines for a stunning single vineyard plot called 'Saint Epine'. This cuvées easily rivals some of the best wines being made in the Nothern Rhone, for a far steeper price tag. Exploding on the palate with unctuous boysenberry and black raspberry fruits with cassis, boysenberry and black raspberry, deeply slatey minerality, crushed flower petals and wild herds. Well integrated juicy and ripe tannins, round out the palate and imply a decade or more of life with ease.

'The 2017 Saint Joseph Aubert is more complex and layered. Lots of cassis, cedarwood, dried herbs, and cured meats, as well as graphite, give way to a full-bodied, pure, serious Saint Joseph that has a stacked mid-palate, building tannins, and a great finish. Do your best to hide bottles for 3-5 years. This wine comes from vines near Ste Epine and St Jean de Muzols, and is aged 18 months in new, once-, and twice-used oak.' Jeb Dunnuck - 94+
