2013 Muscadet Gorge, Chateau du Coing
Not a mis-print. This is 2013 vintage. Veronique Gunther specialises in producing late-release Muscadets with the ability to age. Given AC status in 2011, Gorge became one of the first single villages or Muscadet Cru to gain official recognition, although it had first begun to introduce new regulations to improve the ageing potential of its wines in the 1990s. With an extended time of several years sur lie and additional bottle age, this wine offers a fabulous balance between lovely clean fruit, delicate white flowers and a saline complexity, whilst remaining light and elegant. Due to the extended period of ageing, the wine definitely benefits from being decanted. As usual for a Muscadet, it is a perfect partner to shellfish, but due to the extra body and complexity from the elevage, it also provides a super accompaniment to sea and freshwater fish, poultry and white meats.

2018 Savennieres Le Parc, Chateau d'Epire
We have had the great pleasure of working with the wonderfully pure Savennieres of Chateau d'Epire, for many years and the wines have always been firm favourites. The wonderful Chateau has been in the Bizard family since the 17th Century and is managed today by Paul Bizard, who took over from his father Luc in 2018. Paul is keen to retain the estate's traditional approach, but has re-named a number of the wines produced, to give a truer recognition of their origin. Formally, simply known as Savennieres, this Cuvee is produced from the 4.5 ha vineyards of 'Le Parc', which surround the Chateau. More open and accessible in its youth than the other cuvees, this is a perfect introduction to the wines of Savennieres, with its attractive fresh, floral and delicately honeyed bouquet, combined with orchard fruits, vibrant acidity and wet slate minerality. Perfect as an aperitif or to accompany fish and white meat dishes. Refined and elegant balance.

2017 Echappee Belle Blanc, Domaine Loic Mahe
2017 Echappee Belle Rouge
In comparison to Chateau d'Epire, the Domaine Loic Mahe, is its infancy. Having begun to learn his craft with Eric Morgat, Loic planted his first vines in 2000. He produces some spectacular bottlings of Savennieres, but in this case, we are pleased to include the extraordinary Echappee Belle Blanc and Rouge!
Due to the extreme conditions at flowering in 2017, Loic lost a large percentage of his crop. Turning a catastrophe into a triumph, Loic took the decision to try something new, truly thinking 'outside the box'. Joining forces with two of his great friends in Alsace and Bordeaux, he selected grapes from their estates to blend with his own, to produce this fabulous pair of wines. The Blanc is produced from a blend of Chenin Blanc from Loic's own vineyards and Pinot Gris from Philippe Brand in Alsace, adding an attractive intensity of fruit and aromatics, whilst the rouge, is a blend of Loic's own Cabernet Franc grapes with Merlot and Malbec juice from gapes grown by his friends Christine and Bruno Duhamel in Bordeaux, giving a subtle depth and roundness to the palate. Unusual blends perhaps, but the results are delicious!

Cremant de Loire, Blanc Brut, Breze, Arnaud Lambert
Produced from 90% Chenin Blanc and 10% Chardonnay, grown on Saumur's sandy, clay-limestone soils on the classic, tuffeau limestone bedrock, which is the key to Saumur. Vinified in stainless steel and aged 2 years sur latte, this is a wonderfully vibrant, clean and perfectly balanced Cremant, displaying a pristine purity of fruit and poised elegant balance.

2018 Saumur Blanc, Les Perrieres
Produced from 60 year old Chenin vines on a terroir of argile-calcaire, in St. Cyr en Bourg. The wine is aged 50% in barrels of 3 to 5 years and 50% in foudre. This is a wonderfully expressive Saumur Blanc, combining an exciting balance between the ripe Chenin fruit, structure and minerality with a superb, racy acidity. Impressive length and serious substance. Perfect with fish, poultry and pork dishes.

2018 Saumur-Champigny Les Terres Rouges
Produced from 45-year-old vines on a parcel of clay and limestone, this is a glorious Saumur Rouge. Arnaud commented that he felt that this was the best vintage that he had produced of the Terres Rouges. Vinified in stainless steel, the purity of fruit is irresistible. Ripe, freshly picked, blackberry fruit, vibrant and elegant, with ripe silky tannin and harmonious balance. Real finesse.

2014 Chinon 'Graves', Pascal Lambert
Founded in 1987, the Lambert's began to convert to organic viticulture in 1995 and have been certified as biodynamic since 2012, being part of the renaissance des appellations. Sharing the same philosophy as producers we greatly admire from other regions, including the phenomenal, Jean-Claude Lapalu of Brouilly and Claudio Viberti of Barolo, these wines have an incredible purity, focus and energy. The 2014 Graves has matured beautifully, displaying a wonderfully floral, violet-scented bouquet with lovely black and red berry fruits, combined with a lovely minerality, hints of lead pencil and subtle spices. Refined and elegant.

2017 Sancerre Blanc, Daniel Crochet
Whether you are looking for a glass of white, rose or red wine to enjoy this summer, these sensational Sancerre from Daniel Crochet are hard to beat! Situated, in the sleepy village of Bue, Domaine Daniel Crochet has 9 ha of prime sited vineyards including the fabulous Plante des Pres and Chene Marchande. With approximately 6 ha of Sauvignon Blanc and 3 ha of Pinot Noir, the domaine produces an exceptional, classic Sancerre, together with a truly+ exciting Sancerre rose and gloriously elegant Sancerre rouge.
Produced on the argilo/calcaire soils, this is a wonderful example of a classic Sancerre. Pure, crisp aromatic fruit and wet stone minerality on the nose. Wonderful intensity on the palate. Dry, but with good depth and real intensity again, lovely racy acidity and classic mineral expression of Sancerre, yet restrained and elegant.

2017 Sancerre Rose, Daniel Crochet
Lovely depth of colour. This is a 'definite' rose! Wonderful intense, fragrant, ripe red and orange fruits on the nose. Dry, on the palate with red berry and blood orange fruit, ginger, spice and zesty acidity. Very harmonious with great intensity, but real restraint too. Clean, refreshing acidity and perfect balance.

2017 Sancerre Rouge, Daniel Crochet
Produced from 20-year-old vines and vinified and matured in concrete tank. This is all about purity, delicacy and finesse. Lovely fragrance on the nose with beautifully ripe, sweet strawberry and red berry fruits. Ripe pure, expressive palate with super balance and real finesse. Vibrant and refined.

2017 P'tit Fume Michel Redde
The Domaine of Michel Redde was originally founded back in 1930, although the family were reportedly already living in Pouilly some 300 years earlier. This is definitely no new estate, however, it had somehow managed to escape our notice until a few years ago. Having always been a huge fan of the wines of the late Didier Daguneau, I was instantly reminded of these sensational wines as I tasted through the single terroir cuvees of Michel Redde. Offering such amazing complexities and expression, these really do take Sauvignon Blanc to a level rarely achieved. Their P'tit Fume offered here, offers a more immediate but nonetheless, stylish pleasure, with an enticing, pure, flinty bouquet capturing the essence of Pouilly Fume. Wonderful gras and richness with super-pure, ripe, aromatic fruit and fine, flinty nuances. Lovely grapefruit/citrus acidity and persistence. Fabulous balance and a real touch of class.
