2012 CNDP ‘Le Cuvée du Papet’, Clos du Mont Olivet

Grand Cellier

Produced from a blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir from Premier Cru vineyards in Rilly La Montagne, Vilmart's Grand Cellier has to be one of the most refined and stylish NV wines of Champagne. With wonderfully expressive and pure aromas of white flowers, honeysuckle, and citrus notes which continue and develop on the palate to combine with delicate hints of hazelnut. Without doubt one of the finest NV Champagnes, with incredible focus and finesse.

Vilmart undoubtedly remains one of the brightest jewels of our portfolio. With a meticulous perfection and a fine-tuned intuition for his craft, Laurent continues to re-invent the meaning of the term, 'perfection.'. From his 11 ha of prime sited vineyards, located around the sleepy village of Rilly La Montagne, on the foothills of the Montagne de Reims, Laurent produces a range of exceptionally fine and complex Champagne.

2011 Pommard

A lovely nose of earthy pinot fruit. Slightly perfumed with hints of oak, soft spice, liquorice and Bovril. Dry, low acidity, low-medium tannins. Full, rich and earthy redcurrant/ berry, oak, sweet spice and a light citric note on the middle. Superb depth but a little masked on the finish at this moment in time with dusty tannins and liquorice.

Domaine Moissenet Bonnard is run today by Jean-Louis, who inheritied the domaine from his Grand Father in 1988, and his daughter Emmanuelle-Sophie. After taking over, Jean Louis, having a real passion for the land and vines, invested greatly in improving the conditions in the vineyards, bottling the domaines wines (which the family had not previously done) and increasing the domaines holdings. Today the estate is comprised of 5.5ha, across 20 plots, spread over 5 different Burgundy appellations. Their beautiful, organically produced Permier Cru Burgundies are really special, with immense charm, intensity, life and energy. However there is always a wonderful balance and elegance to them as well.

2012 Cuvée du Papet

First produced in 1989, the Cuvee du Papet comes from Mont Olivet's oldest Grenache vines, planted in 1901, blended with Syrah and Mourvedre. Only produced in exceptional vintages, this is one of the appellation's treasures. Best decanted or allowed to breathe for an hour or two, the 2012 Cuvee du Papet, produced from 75% Grenache, offers wonderfully enticing ripe black fruits, with notes of the garrigue, peppered herbs, mineral, and cedar. Lovely complexity and harmony, with a long, lingering finish.

Having been in the Sabon family since the early 20th century, Clos du Mont Olivet reflects the tradition of the region. Thierry’s aim is to produce a wine which captures all the warmth of the Mediterranean sun, whilst retaining an elegant balance. The viticultural practices are adapted according to the vintage and the wines matured in a combination of foudre, cask or vat, before bottling without fining or filtration. The wines of Mont Olivet develop beautifully and possess a delightful, Burgundian finesse.
