I know that many of you will be extremely familiar with the three wines offered below. Over the years, they have become firm favourites, not just of the Gauntleys team, but it would appear, many of you too!
This pack contains two bottles of each of the following wines
2018 Pazo de Senorans Albarino
In the little over 25 years that Pazo de Senorans has been established, it has become recognised as one of Spain's leading producers. Vinified and aged in tank, this superb Albarino displays a wonderfully clean, vibrant profile with aromas of nectarine, fresh figs, orange zest and white flowers. Dry, citrus flavours and a mineral-driven finish, which expands and deepens on the tail end. Offering a satisfying balance of power and finesse.
2017 Cotes du Rhone, Domaine Giraud
The Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre vines are grown on the fabulous Clos de Sixte vineyard of Lirac, an area that many of the top estates in Chateauneuf du Pape are investing in, due to the great terroir and potential here. Marie and Francois Giraud craft this wine with their usual passion and meticulous attention to detail. This wonderfully stylish, complex yet elegant wine, offers delicious ripe berry fruit, pepper and subtle hints of liquorice, which would eclipse many wines from Chateauneuf itself.
2013 Ventoux, Clos de Trias
If anybody needed to remind themselves, the difference between an 'industrially' produced wine and a real, vin de terroir, then nothing could represent that better than the sublime wines of Even Bakke at Clos des Trias! For anyone who has been fortunate enough to visit his fabulously sited vineyards on the rugged landscape above St. Barroux in Ventoux and have smelt the intoxicating floral aromas of the garrigue, the bouquet of this delightful wine will immediately transport you back to that time and place amongst the vines. This is a wine of life and soul, with the wonderfully enticing Provencal aromas of lavender, thyme and rosemary with ripe berry and plum fruits, well-integrated, ripe tannin balanced by the fresh, vibrant, slightly saline minerality of the Triassic terroir.
