Azienda Agricola Nunzio Ghiraldi

As every student of grape varieties knows, Trebbiano di Lugana is the only serious Trebbiano there is, which is mostly because it’s not Trebbiano at all, but another name for the fine and structured Verdicchio grape. Nunzio Ghiraldi grows it near Lake Garda, and makes vibrantly juicy and complex wines, with notes of herbs and stone fruit. An outdoorsman in his heart, who loves nothing more than to work his land, Nunzio is proud to cultivate his vineyard following ancient traditions. Only the ‘Mosto Fiore’ (The first pressed and best must) is used. After his grandfather had had the intuition to buy the Sant’ Onorata farm in the countryside in the early 1950s, it was then Nunzio who eventually saw the incredible potential, in his unique microclimate and land, to cultivate vines of Trebbiano di Lugana.
