Rhoning Around

For todays mixed case offering, we are delighted to be taking a brief foray back to our cherished second home: the Southern Rhône. An area that we continue to relish roaming and exploring, more than three decades later. Here we will share with you a variety of our favourite Côtes du Rhônes, from three of the top domaines in their respective Cru’s across the region. At special offer prices until the end of April.

These gems from some of the most exciting domaines in the Southern Rhone today offer truly excellent value for money, and are excellent to enjoy in the transitional season, with a delicious depth of fruit for hearty dishes on cooler days, but possessing lovely purity and freshness to enjoy in the sun, for some fine dining ‘Al Fresco’

Gauntleys Mixed Wine Cases Rhoning Around - Six Bottle Mixed Case

The following mixed case contains 1x each of the following wines:

2021 Cotes du Rhone - Grand Nicolet 2021 Cotes du Rhone, Pourquoi Pas - Grand Nicolet 2019 So Rhon - Constant Duquesnoy 2020 Cotes du Rhone ‘Maclura’ - Chateau Pegau Plan Pegau – Chateau Pegau Pink Pegau – Chateau Pegau

First up, we have two delightful offerings from one of the founding family cellars of Rasteau, Grand Nicolet. Current Proprietor Jean-Pierre’s wines are ripe, rich and dense; however, they are never over-extracted for the sake of it. All of his wines are characterised firstly by their purity, perfume and harmonious balance, complimented by an enticing spicey southern richness that make them far too easy to drink! His CdR’s are no different and personify this delicious house style.

Next up, we have the delightful ‘So Rhon!’ from successful Belgian businessman turned winemaker extraordinaire, Gerard Constant of Domaine Constant Duquesnoy. One of the finest producers in Vinsobres and Cairanne around today, Gerard’s wines are full bodied and complex, with superb concentration of fruit and a stylish minerality. Using no new oak, Gerard’s wines are beautifully pure and impeccably balanced with an uplifting freshness. His sumptuous ‘So Rhon’, is a punnet of fruit in the glass offering an abundance of vibrant, crunchy fruit and seamless purity.

Finally, we have three wonderful offerings from Laurence Feraud, at Chateau du Pegau. Purchased back in 2012, Laurence saw amazing potential in the terroir of this ancient domaine in Sourgues. Her goal was to craft fantastic Côtes du Rhône and CDR Villages, that would rise above much of the market, and offer people the opportunity to delight in Domaine du Pegau’s spirit at a more, for many, approachable price. The wines truly deliver, capturing the essence of Pegau’s eminent style and quality, whilst being loaded with classic Côtes du Rhône fruit and spice, and offering great value for money and approachability in their youth.
