Gauntleys Mixed Wine Cases
Bringing Back the Bubbles 12
This awesome little pack contains two bottles of each of the following wines!
Vilmart Grande Reserve Champagne NV
Tom Stevenson MW, once described Vilmart as 'the greatest grower champagne bar none', and we still see little reason to dispute this. Produced from 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay grown on the domaine's Premier Cru vineyards around Rilly La Montagne, the Grande Reserve is a great introduction to the range. With a fine, persistent mousse, this tantalising Champagne, has delicious open fruit and subtle biscuity notes, balanced by a fine clean acidity. Full flavoured but refined and elegant.
2012 Visol, Gran Reserva Cava, Hereat Mestres
This amazing, family-run estate can trace its origins back to the 13th Century and their sensational, Gran Reserva Cavas represent some of the most phenomenal, sparkling wines of the world today. First produced in 1945, the 'Visol', translating as, 'wine on its own', was the first zero dosage, Brut Nature Cava. The recently released, 2012 vintage, combines floral and apple and fresh and dried apricot fruits, together with enticing complexities of baked bread, honey, vanilla and hints of balsamic. Gloriously balanced with a long stylish finish.
Elusia Organic Prosecco
There is still no danger that the Prosecco bubble will burst any time soon. Sadly, due to the endless demand, not all that glitters is gold and there are consequently many disappointing examples on the market. With a wonderful clean balance and untainted purity of fruit this family produced, organic Prosecco from Elusia reminds us just why the wine became so popular. Irresistible!
NV Perle Fine du Coing, Methode Traditionelle, Chateau du Coing
Produced by the exceptional Veronique Gunther of Chateau du Coing in Muscadet, the Perle Fine, with its notes of white flowers offers the lightness and vibrancy of a Prosecco, with subtle brioche nuances of a true Champagne. Instantly appealing, surprisingly sophisticated and exceptional value!
Cremant de Loire
With its chalk-based soils, akin to those of Champagne, Saumur has a renowned reputation for its Methode Champenoise, sparkling wines. Arnaud Lambert is one of the region’s most talented and inspiring producers. This wonderfully crisp, dry Cremant, is produced from 80% Chenin Blanc and 20% Chardonnay and aged some 30 months sur latte. Due to the nature of the limestone of Breze and St. Cyr en Bourg, the wines possess a fabulous natural acidity, which Arnaud masters superbly, creating a wine of enticing harmony and stylish precision.
2015 Cremant de Loire '1948 Yves Lambert' Brut Nature
Produced from 100% Chenin Blanc, grown on the clay soils of the Domaine, this magnificent, zero dosage sparkling wine, is named after the birth year of Arnaud's father, Yves, who first founded the Domaine. The wine is vinified in 5-600 litre barrels and the fermentation stopped at 11.5 degrees. The residual sugar naturally induces the secondary fermentation. The depth and complexity here is fabulous, but again the wonderful acidity born from the terroir provides a superb drive and finesse.
