The Unrivalled Barolo's of Roccheviberti

The Viberti family have been hand crafting exquisite Barolo’s for generations, and could be said to have been one of the region’s best kept secrets for a while. However, under the calm and assured captaincy of current owner and guiding hand Claudio Viberti, the last two decades have seen a ‘blossoming’, as this winery’s reputation has finally gained the international recognition it deserves. With a mere 4.5 hectares of vines nestled around the small commune of Castiglione Falleto, the production at Roccheviberti is small but highly refined and specialised. Claudio’s wines are now widely regarded amongst the region's finest, and today it is our great pleasure to able showcase a range of his breath-taking Barolo’s, as well as his stunning base Nebbiolo.

The wines of Claudio Viberti are peerless and beautifully crafted, and his Barolo’s are easily amongst the finest in the region. Stylistically Claudio’s wines strive for purity, elegance and rich perfumed bouquets to accompany the complex terroir and varietal flavours. This is in contrast to some of the wines from around Barolo that we feel can rely on an over-indulgence of oak, which can sometimes render the wines heavy, cloying and almost undrinkable for a number of years after bottling. Claudio’s combine purity of fruit and expression of terroir, with wonderful life, focus and finesse; they will evolve beautifully over decades but are also incredibly vibrant and approachable in their youth.

If you love Italian wine, the wines from the Piedmont region; or even just love deep rich red wines and have never experienced one of Claudio’s Barolo’s, make sure to right this wrong as soon as possible. You won’t be disappointed! Enjoy them any time of the year and as an accompaniment to any occasion, we are sure you will be as floored as we were, and eagerly anticipating the next glass! Enjoy!
