CLOS DE L'OURS

Don't worry about your troubles or your Strife - Enjoy the 'Bear Necessities!'

We might still not be able to head away to the South of France, but you can still enjoy a taste of Provence with these glorious wines from the Domaine Clos de L'Ours.

On the outskirts of Cotignac, the fabulously situated Clos de l'Ours can be found at the end of a long track, surrounded by forests of pine and oak trees. It is owned and run by the Brotons family, who in 2008, chose to follow their dream and passion, to change their lives and become vignerons. This ancient estate, which traces its roots way back to the middle ages, is one of the northernmost in the Cotes de Provence region. The domaine's name, 'Clos de l'Ours', or Clos of the Bears, does not take its name from any historic story or legend, but from the family nickname for Monsieur Broton, 'The Bear'. With a quest for quality, the estate is managed completely organically, (fully certified in 2012) and in conversion to biodynamic viticulture. The long hang time of the fruit and rich clay and limestone subsoils help produce wines which are undeniably Provencal, yet with notable minerality and finesse.

These fabulous wines offer a real taste of a Provencal summer!

Produced from a blend of Clairette, Rolle and very old Ugni Blanc vines, the nose offers beautiful aromas of summer blossom, ripe peach fruits and honeysuckle, with hints of white pepper behind. Dry and intense on the palate, with tantalizingly clean, ripe, white peach fruit, a vibrant minerality and refreshing lift of acidity. Super concentration and focus, with impressive length and elegantly, refreshing finish. Perfect as an aperitif, to enjoy with fish, poultry and summer salads - or even just by the glass sitting in the sun..!

2016 Le Chemin Rouge

A classic blend of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre, the Le Cemin displays an invitingly, fragrant bouquet, with sweet, ripe black and berry fruits and subtle spices. Wonderfully pure and expressive on the palate, with layers of sweet berry fruit supported by a fine tension of ripe, integrated tannin and fine balance of acidity.
