Somehow, it just wouldn't feel quite like Christmas without a gorgeous glass of port to partner the festivities. Port and Christmas go together like bread & butter, and our pick for this year has to be this delicious 2007 Fonseca.

A stunning, perfumed nose of black/ red fruit, herbs and a touch of soft spice. It has a dense solid core over which the perfumed aromas sore. Real class with distinct terroir notes of wild herbs and exotic wood notes. Beguiling, sweet and seamless, medium to high acidity, medium soft tannins. Juicy, succulent and perfumed. Displaying a greater red fruit character at the moment with hints of damson/ plum conserve. The cutting acidity has pleasantly mellowed over the years and the palate has rounded out even more with the pure and refined sweet fruit absolutely singing. The length is also absolutely stunning. You'll be savouring the flavours well into Boxing Day!

A stunning long aged fortified Moscatel de Setubal! Aged for two years in vat and 5 years in French oak, with intense, complex aromas and flavours of dried fruits, nuts and honey. Elegantly balanced with super depth and long, sweet finish. Delicious on its own or with the festive pudding or cake and chocolate desserts too and would also be a great alternative to Port, to enjoy with the cheese.

A subtle nose of tawny dried fruit, prune, redcurrant and apricot. Lovely complexity with hints of marzipan, orange conserve and gentle spice. Sweet, soft acidity and tannins. A full and complex array of dried prune, redcurrant and apricot and almonds. Lovely raisinated middle and a long, crystallized fruit finish with just a hint of minerality.
