We have very recently re-tasted Vini Grillo Iole’s 2018 Refosco dal Peduncolo and just had to spread the joy. As you are all aware by now, far to the northeast of Italy, in Prepotto, Anna Muzzonlini and her family have made a name for themselves by championing native varietals and sustainable viticulture. Her wines embody elegance and expressiveness, showcasing the finest the Friuli region has to offer, and this may well be her pièce de résistance.

Today, we are delighted to present an exclusive offer on 12-bottle cases of the stunning 2018 Refosco dal Peduncolo.

It is an intense cherry/ ruby in the glass, and is yet another truly delicious native varietal wine from Anna. Opening up with a delightfully pure and rich nose singing with wild blackberries, morello cherries, raspberries and blackcurrants. This purity carries over to palate, which evokes juicy ripe fruit delivering on all of the promises of the nose. It has a fabulous concentration and intensity, but with real life, vibrancy and refinement as well. The ageing in oak barrels enriches it with spicy tertiary nuances and light notes of toasting and chocolate. Delicious cherry fruit and hints of dark chocolate.

This is a little fuller than Anna’s Schioppettino, but harmoniously balanced and worthy of that extra power under the hood. With juicy tannins, a medium-full body and wonderful persistence on the finish this is one of Anna’s finest wines and amongst the finest, you will taste from this region. Obviously delightful on its own, it will also partner perfectly with a wide variety of rich game dishes!
