2020 Langhe 'Nebbiolo'
2021 Dolcetto d'Alba 'Vigna Melera'

Firstly, we have Claudio's 2020 Nebbiolo. A perfect red, more structured and serious, to be enjoyed from the warmth and comfort of home, whilst the snow falls outside and winters chill remains. This ‘mini barolo’ is absolutely stunning, and rivals the quality of many domaine's top Barolos. This is a softer and more elegant expression of Nebbiolo than is often found in the region, and this is no bad thing. There is a delightful freshness and aromatic purity to the fruit here, to go alongside the real power under the bonnet. It is Ruby red in the glass, with a lush nose of perfumed violets, rose petals, red fruits, herbaceous hints and a welcome backing of spice. The palate is incredibly deep, rich and full of fruit and character, whilst always maintaining a really delicate nature. The tannins here are fine and the finish is long and pure.

Secondly, we can think of no wine more appropriate for helping welcome in the Spring, than the beautifully crafted Dolcetto d’Alba. It’s intoxicatingly fragrant bouquet and vibrance compliments the essence of this coming season perfectly. The grapes for this wine come from the same plot as Claudio’s Barolo ‘Bricco Broschis’, and this imbues the Dolcetto with far more depth than is found in most examples of this varietal across the region; whilst still offering a wonderful levity from its pleasant balancing acidity. It is absolutely brimming with bright, juicy, ripe cherry and blackberry fruits, hints of almonds and a gentle tingling of spice on the finish. It is eminently approachable in its youth and remarkably moreish - you’ll never want your glass to empty! Enjoy out in the garden in the spring sunshine once it arrives!
