Gauntleys Mixed Wine Cases
Sables & Schistes and Les Perruches - Two-Bottle Pairing

In stock

Domaine Loic Mahé and Domaine Marie and Pascale Lambert are without a doubt two of the finest producers in the Loire today. At the forefront of the organic and biodynamic movement in the region, both of these producers epitomise the power and potential of low intervention, natural winemaking practises. They produce fabulously balanced and focused wines, with exceptional depth, energy, life and finesse.

Containing 1x each of the following wines:

2020 Savennieres ‘Sables & Schistes’. Domaine Loic Mahé

Loic’s 2020 Savennieries ‘Sables & Schist’, was produced on sand and schist terroir. Hand harvested with strict selection, the wine ferments naturally in small tanks for 20 months. No intervention, or use of oenological products, except a touch of volcanic sulphur. Pure and dry, but with layers of lovely apricot and yellow fleshed fruits combined with subtle notes of ginger and a lively minerality and fresh acidity. The palate is direct and linear with mouth-watering citrus fruit and saline minerality. Great tension and an incredibly long finish. A superb ‘classic’ expression of Chenin Blanc.

2018 Chinon ‘Les Perruches’, Domaine Beatrice & Pascale Lambert

Pascal Lambert’s ‘Les Perruches’ is a level up in his wonderful range. This excellent example of Cabernet Franc from Chinon comes from a biodynamically farmed single vineyard called Les Perruches, with vines ranging from 10 - 30 years old. Textbook aromatics and flavours of dark red berries and black berries with notes of green pepper, dried herbs and a little spice. The palate is nearly full bodied with plenty of grip and bright, lively acid. Delicious!
