2022 IGT Toscana Sparkling Rosé ‘Bolla Galeotta’ Syrah - £23.75

A mix of rose, wild strawberry, cherry, hints of pink grapefruit and crushed rocks rises from the Toscana Rosato Bolla Galeotta. It's soft-textured and savoury, with soothing bubbles and saline-mineral tones that keep the tension high, and finishes a bit tropical, to hints of green melon and young mango, rose and cherry, with hints of citrus on the nose (pink grapefruit). The palate is bouncing with freshness and a pleasant acidic lift. It's not often that you see a 100% sparkling syrah, and this is a delightfully unique and approachable Pétillant-Naturel (PetNat) sparkling wine that certainly enchants and seduces with its charm.

2021 VdF Mousseux ‘Rosa’ – Domaine Vincendeau - £24.80

This is a gorgeous organic rosé sparkling wine from one of the rising stars of Anjou, Liv Vincendeau. Made from 60% Grolleau Noir and 40% Chenin Blanc, this wine is a little delight. Refreshing and zesty, but with a beautifully fragrant and fruity profile, and with a well-structured backbone. The floral nose is followed by an enticing palate of pure, ripe strawberries, raspberries and citrus fruits. This is all accompanied by some well-integrated creamy notes and a mouth-wateringly fresh acidity. The mousse is endearing, fine and seamless and the finish is long and crisp.

2020 Cava Gran Reserva Premium ‘Rosat de Mestres’ – £24.60

Introducing a rosé that embodies understated elegance. With a soft blush hue and subtle copper undertones, this wine captivates without being ostentatious. Delicate carbonic bubbles add a touch of effervescence, creating a lively and refreshing experience. The aroma reveals a bouquet of red fruits, offering a pleasant sweetness balanced by a subtle acidity. Notes of yeast and raw almonds add depth and complexity, elevating this rosé to new heights. This is a wine that invites you to savour every sip and enjoy the company of good friends.

2019 Cava Gran Reserva Premium Rose ‘Elena de Mestres’ - £29.70

This is one of the most beautiful and endearing examples of a rosé Cava that you are likely to come across! The nose explodes with gorgeous aromas of raspberry jam and ripe red fruits, there is also a delightful floral complexity there as well. The primary flavours are accompanied by lovely savoury notes of pastries and cream from the wines long aging on lees, as well as lightly toasted and balsamic notes from the barrel. The palate delivers on everything that the nose promises and then some. It is complex, rich, and dry, with the sweetness and flavour coming simply from the wonderful fruit and the exceptional craftsmanship from the masters in the winery and in the vineyards at Mestres. The fine and persistent mousses combined with zesty acidity and fine minerality ensure that the wine never loses its freshness and moreishness; and the deliciously ripe fruit, creamy sensibility and wonderful length ensure that you'll never want your glass to be empty. This remarkable Gran Reserva Cava has more than enough complexity and structure to pair perfectly with any type of meal and is delightful to drink all on its own as well.

NV Cuvée Rubis – Vilmart - £66.20

During our time in the wine trade, we have not come across many (many being the generous word) Rosé Champagnes that have overly interested us. But in the more than capable hands of Laurent Champs, wines such as the Cuvee Rubis, and in particular his Cuvée Emotion, our scepticism has been completely inverted. At 90% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay, the pure and ripe red fruit really shines with this cuvée. It is elegant and refined. The beautiful salmon pink dress is followed by luscious aromas and sensations of bright strawberries, cherries and raspberries on the nose and palate. There is ample freshness, a salivation-inducing mousse and a smidge of pink grapefruit on the back to add a little fresh twang to the proceedings. The balance is impeccable and the finish is pure and long.

2013 Cuvée Emotion – Vilmart - £136.30

The elder sibling of the Cuvée Rubis, this cuvée raises the bar in every regard. At 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, compared with the Cuvée Rubis 90% PN, and coming from over 60-year-old vines, the Emotion is denser, richer and more complex. It completely charms you from the start, seducing you with its floral and unctuous red fruit nose and its ample, round and complex palate of strawberry, raspberry, sour cherry, vanilla and slight pomelo grip on the finish. The bouquet of fruit is wonderfully supported by subtle notes of almond, cinnamon and honey and even a gentle hint of woody spice. The length, as with all of Laurents wines, is simply from another realm, creamy, pure and pristine. All of the component parts are in absolute harmony with each other, with equal parts power and equal parts finesse, this wine is guaranteed to blow you away. If anyone ever says that great Rosé Champagne does not exist…. Ahem…. Slowly push this bottle forward. Perfect if you are looking for that truly special bottle to share with your partner this Valentines!
