Domaine Daniel Crochet

Situated in heart of the wonderful commune of Bué, this family Domaine has been around for 4 generations now, with Daniel taking the reins after having studied viticulture and oenology at the Lycée Viticole d'Avize. It covers approximately 9 hectares, including 6 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc and 3 hectares of Pinot Noir, and the plots are located in the municipalities of Bué and Sancerre, all in the Sancerre appellation.

The vineyards of the property have an average age of 55 years and are planted in high-quality clay and limestone rich white soils and pebbles typical of the region. The estate is also fortunate to have vines in some of the most highly regarded and picturesque plots of the appellation, in particular Plante des Prés and Chêne Marchand. The finesse, balance and concentration found in these plots is truly spectacular.

Following a completely organic approach to viticulture of the estate are cultivated with respect for the environment in order to promote optimal soil health. They are also grassed in order to avoid soil erosion and limit the yields of the vine, which allows greater concentration in the grapes.

Acclaimed by his peers, Daniel Crochets reputation is one of striving for perfection. With aging on lees and rigourous attention to every detail during vinifcation, the wines here truly are breath taking, Sancerre at its best, true honest expressions of the magnificent soils. We have been on the lookout for a great Sancerre to add to our Portfolio for many years now but kept coming up short and disappointed.

So, Domaine Crochet has truly been a relief and a revelation for us. Wines with wonderful concentration, but the measured restraint, elegance and finesse is truly what comes to mind with these gems.
