Domaine de Rocheville

Philippe Porche established the Domaine de Rocheville in village of Parnay at the end of 2004 and immediately set about improving the vineyards, creating a healthy, sustainable environment within the them. He always seeks to bring out the best expression of the Chenin blanc and Cabernet Franc, by retaining total respect for the terroir. Treatments, he told me, are only employed when absolutely necessary and careful attention is given to training and pruning. The aim at Rocheville, is to bring the grapes to the winery at optimum ripeness and produce a wine which reflects the characteristics of the vintage. The 2013 ‘Clos de Thibaudiere’ is something else! It is produced from the higher altitude vineyards in Breze and is a classic example from the chalky/limestone terroir here, which are naturally high in PH and result in distinctly piercing, mineral wines with a marked acidity. This is sensational, strict and tight with fabulous purity, amazing precision and incredible length.
