Domaine des Forges

Situated in the village of St Aubin de Luigne, in the heart of the Coteaux du Layon, this nigh on 50 hectare domaine, is run today by the talented Stephane Branchereau and his wife Severine. Stephane represents the 5th generation here, having joined his father Claude in 1996 after spending time working in various other regions, including Sauternes and St. Amour, following his oenological studies. Stéphane is increasingly making his mark on the region, including helping Chaume and Quarts de Chaume gain Premier and Grand Cru status respectively. These are special enclaves within the Coteaux du Layon appellation. The practices in the winery are very traditional with a mix of tanks and oak barrels. All styles of wine from the region are produced at the domaine, including an incredible array of luscious sweet Layons, a range of superb Savennieres as well as some really great single varietal wines which offer exceptional value for money.
