Familia Zuccardi
Established in 1963 by Alberto Zuccardi, and run today by his grandson Sebastian, Familia Zuccardi combines forward thinking, with a deeply rooted wine culture, to craft some of the finest wines in Argentina. When Sebastian took over the winery in 2002, Zuccardi was already well established as one of Argenitina’s most renowned bodegas, with the winery and vines based in and around Mendoza. However Sebastian, saw an opportunity to broaden their range and take their quality to new heights, by looking beyond the domaines existing territory to some high altitude vineyard sites in the Uco Valley. These sites could produce grapes of exquisite quality, due to their proximity to the Andes, which provides a wealth of complex and diverse, alluvial soils. Within the first few vintages, the improvement in the wines was undeniable and they began building their, now finished, breathtaking new winery. The winery sits right next to their vineyards in Altamira, in the Uco Valley, at 1100 metres above sea level, with the Andes as its stunning backdrop. The vineyard here has been voted ‘World’s Best Vineyard’ in 2019 and 2020. A new chapter in the history of Zuccardi is beginning and how they continue to evolve will be incredibly exiting. Sebastian’s, understanding of the soils and terroirs of the Uco Valley, is reflected in their beautifully expressive wines.
