A walk in the Parc
As the clocks change to signal Spring is arriving and the sun makes a timely and much welcome appearance, we are all eager to appreciate the great outdoors, enjoy lighter cuisine and reach for a glass of refreshing dry white.
What better for this time of year, than a bone dry, steely Savennieres from one of our longtime, favourite estates, the legendary Chateau d’Epire. The Chateau has been in the Bizard family since the 17th Century and is managed today by Paul Bizard, who took over from his father Luc in 2018. Paul is keen to retain the estate’s traditional approach and sustainable methods, but has re-named a number of the wines produced, to give a truer recognition of their origin.
The ‘Le Parc’, formerly known as simply Savennieres, is a Cuvee produced from the 4.5 ha vineyards of ‘Le Parc’, which surround the Chateau, on soils of sand and shale. The grapes are picked with three careful selections and the wine is fermented and aged for 9 months in stainless steel tanks, to preserve the purity, vibrancy and freshness of fruit. This delicious white wine is more open and accessible in its youth than the other cuvees and is a perfect introduction to the wines of Savennieres. With an invitingly fresh, floral and delicately honeyed bouquet, combined with orchard fruits, vibrant acidity and wet slate minerality.
The 2018 has matured beautifully, to offer subtle secondary complexities. A perfect glass of wine to enjoy on a sunny, spring day and an ideal aperitif, or accompaniment to fish and white meat dishes.
We currently have the Chateau d'Epire Savennieres Le Parc on a special offer of 10% off 6 bottles and 15% off 12 bottles.*

It has an attractive fresh, floral and delicately honeyed bouquet, combined with amble citrus, white peach and orchard fruits, a steely wet slate minerality and vibrant acidity. Almost sec-tendre in style, this cuvée is more fruit driven than some of the domaine's other wines, with a delicate and rounding creaminess.
There is a wonderful refined quality, which follows on through the rage and it is elegantly balanced. Perfect as an aperitif or to accompany fish and white meat dishes. This is a great diving off point, a wonderful entry into the revered range of the ancient Chateau D’Epiré.
