Whilst the weather is still very changeable, with surprisingly sunny days, followed by chilly winds of winter, the bright yellow trumpets of the daffodils are happily heralding the arrival of Spring and one of the most important dates in the family calendar approaches, Sunday, March 30th! Elusia Organic Sparkling Rose A fantastic new organic sparkling rosé from Elusia in Veneto, Italy. Made from 100% Merlot, this is a delightfully fresh, delicate and perfumed sparkling wine. Very aromatic with scents of wild berries and subtle herbaceous accents, there is a harmonious balance between the sweetness of the fruit; a pleasant crisp acidity and a smooth mousse that simply makes you want to continue to refill the glass. It can be served as a welcoming aperitif in the hot sun or as a partner to a variety of seafood dishes and salads.

2020 Perles Fines, Chateau du Coing From the exceptional Chateau du Coing, in Muscadet, the pioneering Veronique Gunther bring us a wonderfully vibrant and elegant, sparkling wine, from the Muscadet region. Produced from the same grape that producers the crisp, dry white wines of the region, the ‘Melon de Bourgogne’, this exceptional Methode Champenoise, offers enticing, white floral aromas, with clean, refreshing, citrus fruits on the palate and appealingly, harmonious balance and real finesse.

2021 Loire Gold, Domaine Vincendeau The talented Liv Vincendeau produces this delicious brut nature crémant from the incredibly schist rich soils of Rochefort sur Loire. From 100% Chenin Blanc, the Loire Gold is a pure, rich, mineral and elegant sparkling wine. The palate sings with vibrant quince, ripe apple and citrus fruits, accompanied by notes of caramel, bread crust and hazelnuts. The finish is long and clear rounded by a delightfully fine mouse and mouth-watering salinity. Stylish and delicious!

2022 Pet Nat de Liv, Domaine Vincendeau Liv Vincendeau also crafts an exceptional Pet Nat. Produced from 100% Chenin Blanc grapes sourced from 60-year-old vines grown on green and purple slate with volcanic origins. This Pet Nat stands out as it has a high level of pressure, which is quite unusual for this style of wine. The Pet Nat de Liv 2022 offers scents of quinces, lemons, and apples, accompanied by a subtle mineral note and delicate carbonic acid. It's an ideal choice, with surprising depth and a refreshing zing.

2020 Rosat Gran Reserva Cava, Mestres With a soft blush hue and subtle copper undertones, this wine captivates without being ostentatious. Delicate carbonic bubbles add a touch of effervescence, creating a lively and refreshing experience. The aroma reveals a bouquet of red fruits, offering a pleasant sweetness balanced by a subtle acidity. Notes of yeast and fresh almonds add depth and complexity, elevating this rosé to new heights. This is a wine that invites you to savour every sip.

NV Cuvee Rubis, Champagne Vilmart During our time in the wine trade, we have not come across many (many being the generous word) Rosé Champagnes that have overly interested us. But in the more than capable hands of Laurent Champs, the Cuvee Rubis and Cuvée Emotion in particular have completely inverted our scepticism. This is expertly crafted, elegant and refined. At 90% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay, the pure and elegant red fruit really shines with this cuvée. The beautiful salmon pink dress is followed by luscious aromas and sensations of strawberries, cherries and raspberries on the nose and palate. There is ample freshness, a salivation-inducing mousse and a smidge of pink grapefruit on the back to add a little fresh twang to the proceedings. Impeccable balance, with a long, pure finish.
