2020 Gruner Veltliner ‘Klassik’
When you think of Austria, you think of Grüner Veltliner, and this is a delicious, classic example. With distinctive aromas of ripe apple, quince, and hints of peach. The rich texture is well balanced by the juicy yet lively acidity. It is fresh, vibrant, peppery and a perfect pairing for fish, seafood, and poultry as well as the traditional cuisine.
2019 Grüner Veltliner ‘Ried Schneiderberg’
From one of the Estate’s top single vineyard plots ‘Ried Schneiderberg’. This is a denser, more intense Grüner Veltliner with deep rich fruit and a broad range of aromas and flavours all whilst remaining pointed and elegant, with incredible freshness and vibrancy, and a minerality from the soils here that offsets the pepperiness perfectly. The wine perfectly accompanies grilled fish, deep-fried dishes like the famous Austrian “Wiener Schnitzel”, but also grilled white meat such as chicken or veal.
2015 Riesling ‘Kugler’
Weinrieder’s expression of Riesling is of course fruit driven and aromatic, as Riesling should be, however it is also an incredible pleasant mineral expression, with elegance, purity, and delicate acidity. Rich and full on the palate, with an abundance of ripe fruit flavours of honeyed baked apple and hints of tropic fruit. herbs in the background as well as traces of nuts and tobacco, light mineral, very good, juicy, and spicy finish. Perfect with Pates and Asian Food!
2013 Gruner Veltliner ‘Hohenleiten’
This is Friedrich’s ‘Pièce de Résistance’. A wine that is only produced on the very best vintages, that can only be described as one of the finest expressions of Gruner Veltliner you may ever taste. From a selection of the oldest vines on the estate up on the high plateau of Honeneiten, where the evenings get incredibly cold, helping the wine achieve a Burgundian style with enormous power and aging potential. The half a year of lees aging helps add an extra layer of creaminess and complexity to the stunning palate. Grapefruit and a variety of yellow fruits sing through accompanied by an assortment of spices and offset by the synonymous mineral backbone. The balance here is beyond remarkable. The power and richness of the cuvée is undeniable, yet there is still finesse, elegance and great delineation. The purity and acidity is mouthwatering. You will savour every sip of this wonderful wine.
