Bring on the Sunshine!

It has unfortunately been an oh-so-British summer this year so far. The sun now seems to be trying to grace us with its presence with increasing frequency, but regrettably much of that British grey still stubbornly clings to the sky. However, if the recent appearances of the long-awaited sunshine, has created an unquenchable thirst for rosé, today we have a mixed case to help keep the clouds at bay.

Our ‘Bring on the Sunshine’ mixed case contains three enticing, unique and classy expressions of rosé from some of our favourite producers in France and Switzerland. From the delightfully refreshing Dôle tradition from Domaine des Muses in the Swiss Valais, to the more complex and gourmand, Bandol Rosé of Gros Norê, you are guaranteed to find an expertly crafted rosé in a style to suit your needs.

The taste of a great glass of glistening rosé is synonymous with a warm spring or summers day. So, whilst we patiently wait with bated breath for the true promise of summer to be fulfilled, there might still be clouds in the sky, but you’ll be able to taste the sunshine in the glass with these delicious, refined and refreshing rosés!

Gauntleys Mixed Wine Cases Bring on the Sunshine - 3-Bottle Rosé Mixed Case

This mixed case contains 1 x each of the following wines:

2018 Sancerre Rosé – Domaine Daniel Crochet

This 2018 Rosé from Daniel Crochet has a lovely depth of colour. The fruit on the nose is wonderfully fragrant and intense, with ripe red and orange fruits bursting out from the glass. There is a racy crispness on the palate, with elegant flavours of red berry and blood orange fruit, ginger, and subtle Pinot Noir spice. This is all held together by a tight structure and lovely refreshing and lifting acidity and wet stone minerality. There is intensity, but real restraint as well. Clean and vibrant and perfectly balanced. Delicious!

2022 Dôle Tradition – Domaine des Muses

A gorgeous rosé saignée, Robert’s 2022 Dôle Blanche is a classic Swiss mix of Pinot Noir and Gamay, picked from a selection of vineyards around the Coteaux de Sierre (Left Bank of the Rhône). This region boasts over 300 days of sunshine a year, making it perfect for producing ripe red grapes for rosé wines. A pale, slightly salmon pink hue in the glass, this wine opens with an intoxicatingly delicate nose, filled with raspberries and strawberries.

On the palate, the attack is fresh and vibrant with a lovely lifting acidity, whilst also providing ample depth and weight. Juicy, pure raspberries, pomegranates and strawberries come through clearly accompanied by a little gooseberry twang and incredibly subtle notes of spices on the finish. This rosé manages to find a great balance between interesting complexity and fruitiness in a wine that is deliciously easy drinking when young and develops warmth and spice when aged. The finish is long and harmonious.

2021 Bandol Rosé – Domaine Gros Noré

A blend of 50% Mourvedre, 40% Cinsault and 10% Grenache, this rosé really shows what great rose can be. The wonderfully floral nose is accompanied by luscious fresh orange and strawberry fruits, balanced with a subtle spiciness. The palate shows wonderful depth, focus and finesse, offering up a plethora of ripe fruits, such as peach, apricot, blood orange, cherries as well as honeysuckle. The balance here is impeccable with good concentration of fruit, plenty of brightening acidity and an abundance of gentle spices and Provencal character to add complexity and roundness to the overall picture. This is an incredible classy showing from Gros Nore. It’s pure, crisp and long, juicy and simply irresistible. There is something here for all comers, whether you identify as a regular rose drinker or not there is much to love and take away from this sumptuous offering from the humble Alain Pascal.

A perfect partner to a wide variety of different summer cuisines, or with sushi, salmon, and even with a prawn curry or beautiful pan-fried scallops.
