Riesling 'Harth Tradition' 2020

This fabulous Riesling has received a number of glowing reviews recently, including one from Jancis Robinson, and showcases all of the best traits synonymous with the wines of Schoffit: purity, ripeness, expressiveness and a marked balance and finesse.

The Riesling grapes come from the historic vineyards of the ‘Harth’ lieu-dit, in the centre of Colmar, with their highly permeable gravelly and alluvial soils, which Alexandre and Bernard cultivate organically and following many bio-dynamic principles. The wine has a lovely richness on the nose, ripe and aromatic, with punctuated aromas of citrus and stone fruits, alongside floral and slightly honeyed notes. It is beautifully clean, dry and crisp on the palate, with ripe white peach and some green apple fruit combined with a marked steely minerality. There is lovely complexity and finesse here and a harmonious balance between intense rich fruit and a lively acidity. The finish is clean and long and this wine would pair wonderfully with a variety of pale meat dishes, trout fish and with a variety of oriental and spicey cuisine.

About the 2020 vintage Alexandre says 'this is a blend of all the parcels of Reisling on the lieu-dit Harth, from many different sub-sections. They usually ripen at the same time, but in 2020, each block was reaching ripeness at different times, bringing many different attributes. Beautiful!’
