2021 Cotes du Rhone VV

This is a delicious and serious Côtes du Rhône, from rich sandy and quartz soils from the ‘Sainte Cardille’ Lieu-dit in Orange, just north of Chateauneuf. Made from 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 10% Mouvedre and produced from 40–70-year-old vines this wonderful little cuvée shows a refined depth and complexity which could rival many top crus. It opens on the nose with a beautifully pure and fragrant bouquet of cherries and blackberries, accompanied by subtle notes of garrigue. The palate that follows is wonderfully intense and with rich raspberry and cherry fruit, alongside attractive notes of pepper and spice. However, it is not heavy at all, with lively harmony and balance. It is round and silky with real finesse, very fine tannins and great length.

2022 Lirac Blanc

This is a truly stunning white, to be overlooked at your peril! The quality and diversity of white wines from the Southern Rhône has been going from strength to strength in recent years. Increasing numbers of growers are pouring their heart and soul into showcasing the full potential of white varietals throughout the region.

A blend of 50% Grenache (from 50-year-old vines), 30% Clairette and 20% Ugni Blanc, this cuvée opens with an incredibly fresh and vibrant citrus bouquet, of bright lemon and green apple fruits. The palate that follows has a delightful purity and zesty energy, with ripe, tangy citrus and stones fruits shining through with a refreshing salinity and acidy. There is great richness, body and density here, but the endearing energy and fabulous focus stops it from ever being flabby or heavy, instead making it feel vibrant and truly moreish. The finish is positive and long, you will truly not be able to put you glass down! Delicious.

Lirac 2018

A gorgeous blend of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault, this delicious Lirac from one of the finest producers in Chateauneuf, will give a lot of mid-range Chateaunuef’s a run for their money! Aged between large oak foudre and cement tanks, this is medium to full bodied red with ample heft and character, whilst remaining elegant and fresh. Crunchy black fruits, pure black cherries, red plums and raspberries engulf the palate, accompanied by wild herbs, baking spices and gentle smoke. The suave and elegant tannins and medium body are accompanied by a lovely balancing acidity which adds freshness and vibrancy. This would go wonderfully with pork sausages with herbs, lamb and smoked meats.
