DOC Syrah Cortona ‘Il Castagno’ 2019
This is Fabrizio's baby and the true flagship wine of the estate. The Il Castagno, which spends some 18 months in used French oak, is a real revelation, with wonderful purity, depth and complexity akin to a great Cornas. It is a generous and softly layered wine with an inviting and cheerful personality. The bouquet opens evenly to showcase dark fruit, blackberry, cherry, spice and even a touch of powdered mocha or bitter chocolate. There are some very distant tones of charred meat and black pepper that are a standard feature of most quality Syrah-based wines. However, this wine delivers a magical touch of Tuscany as well. Full-bodied and structured with encompassing velvety tannins and a gloriously long, pure and chewy finish. It aims to be a powerful wine, but at the same time harmonious and balanced, characterised by remarkable structure but focused on elegance and finesse. It truly unequivocally succeeds!

Wine is shipped directly from our bonded warehouse so unfortunately you can't use Click and Collect for wine.
Delivery options
At the checkout you can leave instructions for the courier to deliver to a neighbours address or left in a safe place around your home if you are out. You can also send to an alternative address such as your work.

Delivery outside the UK
For all delivery destinations outside of the UK - although your order is not subject to UK VAT it will be subject to the local taxes and duties of your country. These charges are usually levied once the package reaches your country.
