Bodegas Montalvo Wilmot
The family-run Bodegas Montalvo Wilmot is one of the finest wineries in La Mancha, truly showcasing the best this region has to offer. In 2019 the winery was awarded the mythical 'Vinos de Pago' status, the highest certification that can be achieved in Spanish winemaking. This label indicates a winery that is worthy of holding its own Denomination of Origin: meaning a winery that exclusively produces wines from their own grapes and whose special characteristics make them absolutely different and recognizable among other wines, even among those produced in the same geographical region. As of 2021 only 20 wineries, out of 5000 in all of Spain have been awarded this 'Vinos de Pagos' certification.

The winery focuses on the cultivation of Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Syrah, from some of the finest vineyard sites in La Mancha. All of there vines are over 40 years old and are planted in hard limestone, marl and clay soils at over 700 metres of elevation, the perfect soils to allow for complete and slow maturation and also a refreshing minerality. The vineyards are also all located in a cool area surrounded by hills, this also favours the phenolic maturity of the grapes by delaying the harvest date compared to most other producers in the region. All of their varieties ripen slowly and evenly, and reach wonderful levels of concentration and phenolic ripeness.
