Ahh the Piece de Resistence of Thierry's range. His Font de Tonin is regularly regarded as one of the finest expressions of Gigondas, seemingly regardless of which vintage is up for discussion. Dark, shimmering violet in colour. The aroma is strong and wide-ranging, with pronounced notes of preserved red and blue fruits, potpourri, exotic spices, and incense. These scents are exceptionally clear and uplifted by mineral undertones. On the palate, it is sweet and focused, showcasing deeply concentrated flavours of lively spice-infused boysenberry, cherry liqueur, and floral pastilles. The floral and spice elements persist prominently through the finish, which is youthfully tannic but offers remarkable energy and lift. This wine is crafted using 100% whole clusters and aged in large oak barrels, around 20% of which are new. Stunning.
